Kintsugi

We’ve all had times in our history when we’ve felt broken. Not just tired, but truly irreparable. Yet, here you are— and believe me, you are not alone.

What if we choose to highlight the healing process and made it not only visible to the world but beautiful and strong, rather than trying to cover up the struggles and conceal them, pretending that they never existed? When we’d look at one another, we’d be able to see the beautiful scars that may mirror our own. Like Kintsugi, the scars are what bring the glistening beauty folks. The healing is what makes you stronger.

When I consider what I want out of coaching, it’s to help others find health, satisfaction, and pride in their efforts and growth. None of these things come from being ‘perfect’. They derive from the process. The hard work, the struggle, the sweat— all of it made worth it by seeing progress. Sometimes you need a mirror to see that progress and a coach should be that mirror. While my primary focus is one on one coaching, my secondary goal is to build a community, a journey driven support system. If this pandemic has taught us nothing else, it is that community is so important.

Our culture encourages us to share the success stories, the flattering images, and throw a positive spin on things. While there is nothing wrong with those things, there is also absolutely nothing wrong with imperfection, failure, and vulnerability. The process of growth is riddled with grit and scars— to me, *that* is where you find true beauty. Let’s redefine success, shall we?

You are worth it.
